Who we are and what we do

The Practice Development Unit aims to meet the continuous professional needs of overseas registered nurses. The Unit is located close to Derby City Centre, within walking distance of main transport links. Our fully equipped training rooms offer access to computers and Internet facilities.

The Unit facilitates individual development through coaching and mentorship activities. We offer a range of programmes based on needs assessment with the aim of developing confidence, computing, clinical, management and leadership skills.

Educational and learning support is given to health and social care organisations in areas of staff, organisational development, policy and protocol design.

Quality mechanism
The Practice Development Unit works in collaboration with partner organisations in the delivery of its programmes. Regular meetings will be held with tutors to evaluate education provisions. Programmes of learning will be evaluated and changes made based on these feed back, Guidance from accredited intuitions will be adhered. Student involvement will be encourage and matters of concern will be followed up swiftly by staff and management

Addressing Learning Needs
Staff at the Practice Development Unit will assess every applicant in order to identify learning difficulties. Applicants will be encouraged to complete an individual learning plan, entered into as a contractual agreement.

The Team
Our team of highly qualified professionals come from a range of backgrounds, including nursing, public health, leadership and management. We work in partnership with health, social care, employment agencies, private housing organisation and a legal team specialising in immigrant law.
