Enrolment Policy for International Student Registration

• That you have your passport with the correct entry clearance (as highlighted below)
• That you have the correct documents to gain entry into the UK
• That all your travel arrangements have been confirmed
• That you will have enough money, both initially and for the duration of your degree scheme
• That you will have accommodation when you arrive students who are not UK residents will need to bring the following items for enrolment and registration.
• An application form will need to be completed
• 2- 4 passport size photographs
• A Current CV
• You will need IELTs at the correct level for the programme
• Visa Documentation
• 2 References
• Evidence of professional qualification Evidence of Financial support whilst living in the UK

On arrival you will be required to complete occupational health screening prior to commencing placement. For UK resident students, you are required to complete an application form and forward it with course fees to the Practice Development Unit. Registration on a study days or conferences that are not selected as a component of a pathway can be done as necessary, preferably within 30 days of the study day pr conference.

Immigration Regulations
When you apply for any form of entry clearance you need to prove that you meet the requirements of the UK immigration regulations. In addition to your passport you will need:

A letter of confirmation from the Practice Development Unit - this confirms that you have been accepted on a full-time scheme and which will be sent to you automatically by us.

A letter from the Practice Development Unit - stating the full cost of the course and what arrangements are acceptable for payment.

Evidence of financial support - to prove that you are able to support yourself and your family if they are with you. For example:

If someone else is paying for you to study, a letter from them confirming what their connection is to you, how much they are going to give you, how often, for how long and from where that money is going to come from. You will also need evidence that they will be able to fulfil their promise, i.e. their bank statements or wage slips or a letter from their employer;

If you are going to pay for your studies through your own savings, original bank statements covering at least the last three months will need to be made available.

Evidence of accommodation - although the Immigration Rules do not require unaccompanied students to show that accommodation has been arranged, it should be brought to the attention of the Entry Clearance Officer where you intend to live. The Practice Development Unit will supply you with details of accommodation on arrival. If your family are coming with you, you will need to show that there will be adequate accommodation for them.

If you can produce these documents you should be given a visa/entry certificate and leave to enter sticker. The sticker will show the length of time you have been given permission to stay in the UK and any restrictions there may be with regard to employment. You should check it straight away and raise any queries asking for it to be changed if necessary. You may not be granted leave to enter for the duration of your course and therefore, whilst at University, you will have to extend your leave one month before your current leave expires.

On arrival in the UK your passport and entry clearance will be checked along with your documents, and you will then have a date stamp placed in your passport. Your leave to enter the UK will begin from that date and expire on the ‘valid until’ date stated on your entry clearance sticker in your passport.

UK immigration officers at the point of entry will ask students if they have the funds to pay fees and support themselves. They may refuse entry if they believe this will not be possible. You should either bring with you funds for the year's fees and some months' allowances or be able to show proof that the money is or will be available to you in the UK. Please remember also that your conditions of stay in this country are that you will be purely self-financing and there should be no recourse to public funds.

Entry Clearance
Unless you come from a country, which is a member of the European Union or the European Economic Area, you will need some form of entry clearance issued by a British Embassy or High Commission in the country of your nationality, or the country in which you are living. This will be either a visa, which is compulsory for visa nationals, or an entry certificate, which is optional but recommended for non-visa nationals. You should check with the British Embassy or High Commission in your own country to find out which entry clearance you require and obtain it before you travel. Without the appropriate entry clearance, you may be refused entry into the UK. Immigration rules and regulations change regularly so you should not rely on advice from other sources.

If you are already in the UK on a visitors' visa, before applying to the Home Office for a student visa you must seek immigration advice. The rules are very strict and if you are a visa-national you cannot 'switch' your status in country. If you apply you will more than likely be refused leave to remain and will have to leave the UK.

If you have access to the Internet, you can find out if you need pre-entry clearance and the contact details for your nearest British Embassy or High Commission by visiting: www.ukvisas.gov.uk

Non EEA Students
From the 13 November 2005, all nationals from non EEA member states who wish to come to the UK for more than six months will need to obtain an entry clearance from a British diplomatic mission before travelling.

Health certificates - may be required to prove that you have had certain inoculations, vaccinations, or x-rays, depending on which country you are coming from. You should check these requirements with the British Embassy or High Commission in your country

Overseas TB screening programme
From the end of the summer 2005, if you are from Bangladesh, Thailand (which also processes entry clearance applications from Cambodia and Laos), Tanzania and Sudan you will have to be screened for TB as part of they entry clearance procedure. This programme will be rolled out to other specific countries in due course.

Recommended Living Allowances
As well as course fees, students will need to have enough money for accommodation, food, study materials, clothing, holidays etc. At the moment, we recommend a minimum of £550 per month or £6,600 per year. This must be added to the course fee each year. Again, increases in the cost of living in the UK will need to be reflected in higher student allowances for subsequent years. Students arriving for the first time are advised to bring with them approximately £500 in cash or travellers cheques to enable them to pay any initial expenses, such as food, etc. following which they will need access to a monthly allowance .

Employment
It is possible to obtain part-time and vacation work, but no student should rely on getting extra financial support from work. Students must be sure of having enough money for fees and allowances for the entire length of their stay.

Tuition fees
Tuition fees are as seen in the prospectus and should be paid in full prior to attendance. For students attending the Pre Adaptation Programme Tuition fees quoted are per year for entrants in the 2008/2009 and will remain the same for the normal duration of your course. If you have to extend your studies beyond the normal duration of the course the Practice Development Unit reserves the right to charge you fees at a higher rate during the additional period of study.

Attendance
Attendance records will be kept. Students are expected to attend no less than 80% of the teaching sessions. Unauthorized absence will not be tolerated. Any absence for whatever reason will need to be reported to the administrative staff on the first day of absence. If a student is absent from studies without permission for more than 10 working days a report will be forwarded to the Home Office. Additionally, the Home Office will be informed, within 10 working days, if a student’s enrolment is terminated; they resign or are dismissed from the placement area Details of the new institution or employers will be forwarded to the Home Office.

Assessment and Awards
The Practice Development Unit will issue Awards to students who have successfully completed each programme of learning. Portfolio development will be encouraged and assessed on a pass or fail basis. Students following individual awards offered by partner agencies will be accredited based on assessment outcomes.

Financial Help
The Practice Development Unit does not offer scholarships or financial support in any way to international students. Nor should students expect to obtain a grant for their studies from the British Government. Sources of financial help within the UK are very limited.

Non Attendance at Classes
Students who wishe or are asked to leave the Practice Development Unit at any time during the study period shall complete and file the official withdrawal form and submit it to the Director. The Home Office will be informed of their withdrawal.

On enrolment all student will have copies of, passport, visa status, photo ID, Professional Qualification and other documents such as police checks and medical status stored securely in our offices for references purposes

Non Arrival in the UK
In instances where students do not arrive, contact will be made with the referring agency to establish reasons for non arrival. When the reason for non arrival cannot be establish, the Home Office will be informed within 10 working days.

Quality mechanism
The Practice Development Unit works in collaboration with BLAY William Training in the delivery of its programmes. Regular meetings will be held with tutors to evaluate education provisions. Programmes of learning will be evaluated and changes made based on these feed back, Guidance from accredited intuitions will be adhered. Student involvement will be encourage and matters of concern will be followed up swiftly by staff and management

In addition:
If you are a UK national you must have a right to be treated no less favourably than a national of another Member State because you have exercised a Community right of free movement, e.g. you must have worked or studied in one or more countries in the European Economic Area, other than the UK

If you are of any EU nationality and your only or main reason for being in the UK and Islands was to receive full time education, you must have been ordinarily resident in the European Economic Area immediately before your three-year period of ordinary residence in the UK and Islands
