Staff Training
Candidates attending the POVA course will gain a basic
knowledge of the forms and symptoms of abuse and it should
be dealt with. Key components include:
What is POVA?: service users charter of rights, definition
of abuse, types of abuse
signs and symptoms, who are the abusers, alerting and
reporting, referral taking
whistle blowing and recruitment
Fire Safety for the Carer Training
This fire awareness-training course has been designed to
give personnel the necessary information, knowledge and
training for them to be competent in basic fire safety.
What does the fire safety training pack?
Elements of fire, common causes of fire, the spread of fire,
fire prevention (safety), priorities, be aware that fire
kills, before you tackle a fire, where do you expect to see
an extinguisher, maintenance, extinguishers and their uses,
types of extinguisher (colour coding), fire classification,
a fire survival guide, protect your home from fire, fire
safety checklist for care homes and fire safety law
Food Hygiene and Safety Awareness Training
You'll learn about all aspects of hygiene – from keeping
your workplace, equipment (and yourself!) Clean, to
minimising the risk of producing harmful foods. All the
knowledge you need, in fact, to prepare food safely. You'll
also cover the statutory and legal obligations of both
employers and employees. You will learn about bacteria,
viruses, food-born diseases, how food is contaminated, food
poisoning, temperatures, colour coded cutting boards, pest
control, cleaning & disinfection, work surfaces, the law and
food handlers.
Safe Handling of Medicine
The course is covered in three parts, each pack is
self-contained and comprises of:
1. The required knowledge.
2. A set of candidate questions.
3. A set of answers to the questions for the trainer.
4. A certificate that may be issued to the candidate when
the answers to the questions meet the trainer's requirements
You will be looking at several areas that need to be
understood in the safe handling of medicine. The three packs
cover the following subject matter:
1. The Law - Legislation and Medication.
2. The Control and Administration of Medicine.
3. Medicine its action, interaction and reaction.
Moving & Handling People
The Health Care Commission state that all personnel who have
to move another person in the course of their duties must
have a sound knowledge of people (manual) handling. Built
around the guidelines set out in the Health and Safety at
Work Act (1974) and the Manual Handling Operations
Regulations (1992), the people course content is as follows

5. Banned Moves
