NVQ: Health & Social
Care Level 4
Who is it for? The award is a nationally recognised vocational
qualification accredited by OCR which is one of the UK‘s
leading awarding bodies. The level 4 in Health and Social
Care (Adults) is designed to reflect the work of candidates
who undertake Health and Social Care activities at Level 4
working with service users/carers. The aim of this
qualification is to recognise the skills and competences of
candidates in the workplace. The qualification is about the
management and delivery of physical, emotional or enabling
care to clients/service users.
The candidate will be managing and delivering care in
support of others, and will be accountable in the area of
practice. Candidates will be working without direct
supervision or on their own, such as in a clients/service
users own home. Candidates will have autonomy, and will be
required to make decisions within boundaries and limits
agreed with their team.

Mode of
Delivery - For International Students
The course is full time, 15 hours theory / 15 hour practical
based activities, supported by qualified assessors with
logged evidence of study/learning time. Candidates will be
taught both theory and practice in an audited learning
environment where they will be supported by professionally
qualified tutors in order to achieve the competencies for
the qualification. Attendances to classroom training
sessions are mandatory.
Course Delivery and Assessment
Learners work with as assessor individually, completing
activities and assessments for each unit. Your assessor will
also observe you carrying out practical tasks during your
normal working hours in order that you can meet the
requirements of each unit. Like all NVQ’s this qualification
is competence-based. This means that it is linked to a
person’s ability to competently perform a range of tasks
connected with their work.
Course Content
To achieve a full OCR Level 4 NVQ in Health and Social Care,
candidates must achieve 8 units made up of 4 Core units
(including the choice of specialist route) and 4 Optional
units.
